History vs Belief

Standard

As I start this post, there is one thing you should know – I believe in God.

I also believe in the Goddess and Nature. I guess you could either call me a Naturalist or Wiccan.

Here lately I have been seeing posts that Christmas is about Jesus. It’s not really. In my opinion it is about man believing is something greater than himself. I base this opinion on historical fact.

When the Catholic Church was starting out it was having trouble getting people in other lands to follow their ways. Most of Christianity was a forced conversion. You see, back when Jesus was crucified he was considered a dissident and rabble rouser. According to history he had a higher set of beliefs than was considered normal at the time.

When Pontius Pilate tried him, he said that he, “washed his hands of Jesus”. Jesus was crucified by the populace, not for any true sin but for his bloodline.

You see, Jesus was the son of two different tribes of David. Mary belonged to the tribe of Levi and Joseph of the tribe of Gad. Though technically Mary’s line wouldn’t have counted, Jesus was still referred to as a Messiah. Two thousand years ago, that meant that Jesus was the legal heir to the Jewish throne.

Rome was not happy with this because Pontius was the Roman appointed king of Judaea. At the time Rome was in the early stages of Christianity and a legitimate heir would upset the apple cart of power. At that time, Pontius could not find guilt of the middle aged Jesus and told the populace to do as they wished. This also had the advantage of wiping the early church’s hierarchy of political assassination.

You see, historically the Catholic Church had a mission to take over the world and think that everyone should believe as they do. The only way to do that would be to wage war on ever nation in the world.

The original meaning of the word Pagan was the local populace. By changing the meaning of this word to something akin to non-believer was a form of control to the church. As was their habit of taking over the holidays of the nations they conquered.

Christmas was once known as Yule and marked as the shortest day and longest night of the year. Trees were bought in to a home to keep the fairies warm in hopes of them protecting you throughout the coming year. A Yule log was burned in honor of the coming year.
